The default settings should work for most sites:
Label field = leave as is
Help Text field = add help text, if desired
Default Image fieldset
Allowed File Extensions field = default are png, gif, jpg, jpeg (additional image file extensions can be added, but these will generally suffice)
File Directory field = the tokens used in this field will automatically store the file in a Year-Month directory
Maximum Image Resolution fields = allows you to set a maximum display size for an image
Minimum Image Resolution fields = allows you to set a minimum display size for an image
Maximum Upload Size field = sets a maximum file size that the system is allowed to upload
Enable Alt Field checkbox = set to true, provides a field to enter alt text in - do not change this
Alt Field Required checkbox = set to true, forces a user to add alternative text - do not change this
Enable Title Field checkbox = set to false, don't enable this unless you know the difference between alternative text and title text (they're not the same)
The default settings should work for most sites:
Upload Destination radio button = Public files (Private files directory must be set in set in settings.php and at Admin Menu > Configuration > Media > File System)
Default Image fieldset (same as fieldset in Edit tab)
Allowed Number of Values fields = leave as is
